With rising healthcare costs and limited access to necessary services, we strive to bridge the gap between accessibility and mobility within the home and community. We are working to create a space for those who have limited access to therapy services and those who need assistance with mobility or accessibility related obstacles such as: wheelchair evaluations, transportation, and coordination of services.
We are passionate about equal accessibility and mobility for ALL individuals. We host Bike Day, which is an annual event that provides an opportunity for individuals with disabilities to test and get fitted by trained professionals for an adaptive bike. These items are not covered by insurance companies and we assist families with raising money to cover the cost. Furthermore, we understand that there are individuals and families who have limited budgets. From our experience, many of these individuals are not receiving necessary services related to accessibility and mobility due to these barriers. We do this because we know by executing our mission, we can make a difference in the overall quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
We currently serve the community in a pro-bono capacity. Due to an increased need for services in our community, we are seeking funds from donors and grants to assist with covering the cost of services and medical equipment. In 2022, over 50 individuals and a total of $9,425.00 in pro bono services were provided to the community. We also assisted our partners in obtaining 10 adaptive bikes for children with disabilities. Another 15-20 patients were assisted in partnership with the WNC Bridge Foundation to receive necessary durable medical equipment that is not covered by insurance providers.
We rely on help from the community and grants to aid in funding our mission.
Bike day started as a fun way to connect with the community and educate the public on the importance of adaptive recreational equipment. It is an opportunity for everyone to come and try out a Freedom Concepts Adaptive Bike! There are trained professionals on hand to conduct evaluations and determine product sizing for children and youth ages 2 and up.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals by promoting accessibility and enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities . Your generous donation will fund our mission.
