The Foundation's Core Concepts

Accessibility

Accessibility is imperative for all individuals regardless of their abilities. Accessibility is not a privilege or a luxury - it is a basic human right. Mobility Matters Foundation believes in helping others to achieve and maintain their accessibility within their home and community.

Mobility

We are passionate about helping others maintain mobility in their homes and increase access to their communities. We believe that mobility for recreation is just as important as mobility for daily living activities. Pictured above is the approved proposal for the inclusive playground, located at Jackson Park in Hendersonville, NC. The estimated completion date is Spring 2023.

Community

We are passionate about working and connecting with communities. We strive to provide access to equipment, education and resources with minimized fees, low-cost clinic days, as well as facilitating fundraisers.  We currently serve Henderson County, but are eager and hopeful to expand our services across the United States.

Education

Education can create opportunities for better health. We educate individuals about available resources, durable medical equipment, human rights unrelated and/or related to healthcare, and self advocacy.

Advocacy

When successful, healthcare advocacy improves individual and community health which reduces health disparities. We advocate daily for disability inclusivity, equality, accessibility, autonomy, respect, and most importantly, dignity.

Occupational Therapy Student Experience

Mobility Matters Foundation is committed towards excelling future practitioner education and experience. The foundation continuously takes on occupational therapy students, whether that be OTA or OT. Students may complete their level I fieldworks, level II fieldworks, or capstone experiences. All students have opportunities to engage in clinical practice, administration, advocacy, program development, education, outreach, and more!
