Student Opportunities

Mobility Matters Foundation believes in providing educational opportunities for the next generation of Occupational Therapists. Mobility Matters Foundation offers a comprehensive and unique capstone or fieldwork experience for OTD and MSOT students. Mobility Matters currently operates in a telehealth capacity, making it an available site for students across the country. Telehealth OT Capstone or Fieldwork is a wonderful opportunity for students. The team at Mobility Matters Foundation has high expectations for their students, and various objectives that will be met, along with objectives provided by your school. Students are supervised by a licensed and registered occupational therapist.

The mission of the Mobility Matters Foundation is to increase accessibility and enhance the quality of life for individuals within their home and community. We do this by providing skilled occupational therapy evaluation services, educational resources, and advocacy to enable the underserved members within our community to receive essential durable medical equipment (DME).

If you are interested in an OT Capstone or Fieldwork opportunity at Mobility Matters Foundation, please email us at info@mobilitymattersfoundation.org

  3. When sending emails to community partners, ensure proper channels and methods are followed.

Student Testimonials

“My time at MMF [Mobility Matters Foundation] while completing my doctoral capstone project was incredibly dense and rewarding. I had the opportunity to chase my passions and really dive deep into making a real-life impact on a community level. I gained so many useful skills and attributes that really gave me the confidence to consider myself a part of the OT community. The guidance that was given by Amy & Kendell was as personal as it can get. They really made an effort to not only grow my OT related knowledge but also to help shape me as a good human being who wants to make a positive impact in the world. Week by week I could see myself gaining successes big and small. I learned what it meant to be a leader, to be willing to take risks, and to communicate with others so that the MMF community and mission could grow. I really enjoyed the fact that I was not treated like a submissive student, yet I was seen as an equal. My ideas were never shut down and I had the ability daily to propel my passions within the OT world forward!”   - Aneta Glowacz OT/S, Midwestern University Class of 2024

Throughout my time at this nonprofit telehealth seating and mobility clinic, I learned so much about what it means to be a competent OT practitioner, leader, businesswoman, and advocate. Without this placement, I wouldn't have had real-world experience in providing pro bono seating and mobility evaluations through telehealth, writing letters of medical necessity, writing grants to help the non-profit grow and to help patients obtain needed equipment, and starting several fundraisers that amplified the importance of telehealth and accessibility! Amy and Kendell were a treasure of resources, expertise, and support during my capstone experience at MMF. In addition to supporting me during my placement, my mentors have also provided me with an endless amount of resources about diagnoses, wheelchairs, DME, and other accessibility equipment that has prepared me for the NBCOT exam and my post-grad career. If you are interested in helping underserved populations, want to contribute to increasing access to healthcare services, and are a self-motivated and enthusiastic learner, MMF is the place for you. - Nicole Zhang, OT/S, Midwestern University Class of 2024
